Evgeni Plushenko: Sotnikova is ready, i believe in her ,and i'll make my fans happy

Plushenko gathered journalists at his own figure skating school to reaffirm his intention to complete his amateur career and concentrate on coaching. The central theme was his cooperation with the Sochi 2014 Sochi 2014 champion Adelina Sotnikova, who returns to the ice and, according to her new coach, aims not only to compete for a ticket to Pyeongchang 2018 but also to perform in the next Olympic cycle. On the basis of the new school of her coach figure skater has been training for two weeks.

"We are not only aiming to perform this season, we want to go further into the next Olympic cycle," Plushenko said. "Adelina is still young." Many have already written that our cooperation is a PR move, but we do not need to PR. Adelina herself came to me, it was her choice. I did not call anyone and did not ask for anything. I only supported Sotnikova.

We want to do the job, it will not be easy. With the choreographer Emanuel Sandu starting from tomorrow we start to put programs. Adelina does not have a rating right now, but I went through it, performed in the first warm-ups. We will try to go through this together. Everything is going well with us, the main thing is not to hurry. Our motto is the impossible is possible.

Journalists asked about the athletes' first steps back to the ice - general physical training, entry into their weight, restoration of the technical base.

"The initial task was to restore the condition and the base that it had," Evgeni agreed. - The technique needs to be changed, because, in my opinion, it can be done better. Adelina is ready to head to work, she plows - the first goes to the ice and leaves the last. Twenty-one years - all nonsense, for sports, I think, the coolest age, I remember on my own. Our cooperation will last not one season, but several - this Olympiad will be held, but there is the next one, there are championships in Russia, the world, and Europe. It's important to me that Adelina is ready to work. And I believe in it.

Perhaps Sotnikova will not be the only athlete Plushenko, whose name is known not only to passionate fans of figure skating. According to the new coach, he was already approached with proposals for cooperation even from abroad. "Many foreigners come to me with names and decide whether it's worth training foreigners," the Olympic champion explained.

According to Plushenko, his figure skating school is a private one, so season tickets are sold for those wishing to train. But talented children train for free, there is also a group of special children who also do not pay for classes. In addition, every month Evgeni arranges master classes for children from orphanages.

While Plushenko ponders about his coaching future, he does not get tired of asking questions about the key decision - to finish with the sport. In fact, he finished already after Sochi, not performing in anyone in a personal tournament, however, until the last days of the final decision were not voiced. Now the statement sounds firm: in the career of the sportsman the point is put, there are no regrets.

- You will still watch me on the show, I'll ride a few more years - I'll make my fans happy, - continued the star figure skater. - Once this moment was to come. I'm full, to be honest. Four Olympics is a very difficult journey. Even more difficult thing is 15 operations. But I have no regrets. I love you all and appreciate both journalists and my fans. Now I will be a coach, I hope that you will also love my students.

- What are your goals and ambitions as a coach?

- I was the first in sport, I always proved and went to the end through the impossible. And here as well - we have grandiose plans, to achieve results with our athletes, to enter the elite of figure skating. I have a good youth, step by step we will go. This is my new business, I like to live with the athletes these training, like when it starts to work out. I remember myself at these moments, as we began to skate with Alexei Nikolayevich Mishin. I cherish every minute now, I go to the ice early, I return late. This is my second home now, and perhaps soon will be the first. Huge work ahead, but with these conditions, probably, you can quickly start to show good results.

- You said that you came to the point that you are ready to finish with the sport and go to coaching. How do you understand this?

- It's hard to say ... I have not been skating for two years. I was visited by thoughts to return, to continue my career, to try to fight. But then I thought: if the operation is again and if something else happens? If it does not work out again? But every day I'm standing on the ice, I'm skating. I've been struggling all my life, I needed adrenaline ... When you go out on the ice and see the audience, people start applauding, shouting something - it does not transfer! But now I do not need it. Already need to calm down. Although when I go out on the ice with the kids, I have to jump.

Alexander gave his son Alexander to figure skating. The four-year heir on Wednesday made his debut on the show in honor of the opening of the figure skating school, which he himself regularly visits. Sasha made a program for "Kalinka-malinka."
- He is 4 years old now, our goal is to go to the World Junior Championship in ten years. And we will try to win it, - promised Plushenko. - He is already quite confidently on skates. But, of course, if he is hard on life, then Dad always comes to the rescue. Of course, I'm worried about my son. He goes to the band, he does it, I also train him. He goes for a drive every day, has already started working on choreography. Of course, I'm worried. But, in my opinion, I am a tough dad and a tough coach. And when it turns out, I give the carrot.
